MATRIS
We believe God has entrusted each of us to steward our
Monies, Abilities, Time, Resources, Influence, and Skills (MATRIS).
These are our Pillars — which correspond to what God has entrusted us with
to Be Good steward for Kingdom impact.
1. Monies
“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the fruits of all your produce.”
- Proverbs 3:9
We believe that our Monies are a tool for Kingdom impact and that it is to be invested - not buried or horded.
2. Abilities
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord.”
- Colossians 3:23
We believe God blessed everybody with unique Abilities (natural inborn talents), and that he doesn’t waste what he has granted. We seek to hone and improve our abilities to glorify Him.
3. Time
“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
- Psalm 90:12
We honor God by structuring our Time with intention — balancing rest (such as by keeping the Sabbath), discipline, and aspiration.
4. Resources
“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.”
- Luke 16:10
Every dollar, asset, and tool is a seed. We must plant the seed in fertile ground, not rocky soil or allow the birds to snatch it away.
5. Influence
“In the same way, let your light shine before others.”
- Matthew 5:16
God calls us to lead others and to provide an example for them to follow. We are to use our Influence to demonstrate upright character and help keep others - and ourselves - on the straight and narrow.
6. Skills
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
- Matthew 25:21
We believe Skills (talents that we do not naturally possess but can learn) are sharpened through repetition and humility. Just as iron sharpens iron, we push our scholars to confront their weaknesses and move out of their comfort zones.
